Fourth of July Celebration
The 4th of July at the Blue Ridge is the biggest day of our
summer. Come for a day of old-fashioned fun and games for all ages,
bring a picnic (remember, no glass please) and friends (guest fees
apply), guess how many jelly beans are in the jar, dive for coins
(shallow and deep ends), swim, laugh, take photos, enjoy old
friends, make new ones.
The snack bar will sell water, sodas, ice cream, chips, candy, and
popcorn.
10AM--Mile swim. It only takes 9 round trips in this pool!
11-12noon--Come in, get settled,
enjoy the corny decorations.
12-1PM--Opening ceremonies, including the childrens' parade, the canoe
ceremony w/ national anthem, childrens' games and prizes.
Childrens' games include the egg race, greased watermelon
contest, water balloon toss, 3-legged race, and more. Everybody
wins!
1-2pm--Adult Games (open to anyone who can swim in the deep
end). Greased watermelon race, silliest dive, biggest splash, and
high dive. Anyone for the Grandmother's race this year?
2PM--closing--Relax, eat, enjoy,
play ultimate frisbee, play stand tag, play badminton, swim, float
in an inner tube, take a nap, play on the swings, visit, eat some
more.
Bring Spare Change
A revered 4th of July tradition at the BRSC is diving for sunken
treasure. Please bring spare change to the guards to toss into the
pool (both ends) at the appointed time. Foreign coins are welcome!
Bumper Stickers & T-Shirts
These items are now available at the guard house. We are so happy
to have a new logo that is fresh and distinctive and that will help
make us better known in the community and attract new members.
Please support your pool by purchasing and--more important--wearing
or displaying our logo! Bumper stickers (only $2) are especially
useful here, as they get seen all over town.
Bring Extra Chairs
If you have folding soccer-style chairs, please bring them as we
will be short on the 4th.
Carpool When Possible/Drive Slowly
As this is our most well-attended day of the year, please consider
carpooling when possible to maxmize parking opportunities. And we
ask that members drive between 10-15mph on the pool roads. Driving
slowly greatly reduces wear and tear on the road, and reduces dust
that can ruin a jogger or walker's fun, or coat the car behind you.
See you all tomorrow at the pool! |
